April Wine Club Offerings

Updated: Apr 19, 2018

This Saturday April 21stis the official grand opening of P. & E. Bottle Shop! It coincides with the Three Oaks Spring Stroll. All the shops stay open until 9pm and there’s music, bites and wine. If you’re looking for something fun to do and in finally a little milder dry weather come stroll!

The Bottle Shop will hold hours Thursdays through Sunday from 12-5pm, but we will also always open by request (just pop in to Patellie’s and ask) and by chance, as we’re in there working a lot.

We are also finalizing the details in offering P. & E. Bottle Shop for delivery. You could call in an order from Patellie’s and then call in an order to the Bottle Shop and we could bring a hot pizza and a cold bottle of wine to your front door.

Following is your April 2018 Wine Club selection. Remember that we always keep a small stash on hand of these wines, so you can always re-order from your selection.

Cheers!

P. & E. Mullins

2016 Domaine Girard Sancerre, Loire Valley, FR

This estate dates back to before the French Revolution. Today it is run by parents Fernand and Monique and their son Alain. They come from several generations of winemakers in the tiny village of Chaddoux, located northwest of the town of Sancerre in the Loire Valley. The vineyards are still harvested by hand and fermented with wild yeasts. The terroir is on a steep slope of stony clay and limestone soil. The 2016 shows a bright pale gold color in the glass with aromas of pear and quince. The palate is nicely balanced with minerality and notes of citrus and stone fruits and a firm acidity. The finish is beautiful, elegant and long.

2017 Borne Rosé of Pinot Noir, Anderson Valley, CA

The Anderson Valley is one of California’s most prized wine growing regions. Ellie’s brother, winemaker Daniel Fitzgerald’s favorite vineyards come from this secluded valley. This rosé of pinot noir was sourced from the Bosc and Beaujolais vineyards which border up to the Navarro forest. He announced to us that this is the most serious rosé he has ever made! In the glass the wine is a bright salmon pink. The nose exhibits morning dew covered raspberries, melon rind and bubble gum. The palate is vibrant with racy acidity but also has great weight. Full of red fruit with zippy spices like cardamom, paprika and a touch of flint on a long finish.

2015 Domaine Baudry Chinon, Loire Valley, FR

Bernard Baudry is unquestionably one of Chinon’s most outstanding producers. Not only does he have the talent to make delicious and consistent wines, vintage to vintage, but he is also fortunate to have vineyard land that showcases many of the varied soil types of the appellation. These cab franc vines are 30-35 years old and reside on a sandy limestone plateau topped with gravel.

The nose is like you are lifting the lid on a pot that has been braising a stew for hours. The palate is full of richness and depth. You can taste the green of vines and the minerality of the soil. A wild ride ends slow finishing long and smooth.
